Belle Isle period

Belle Isle period

The works of the Belle-Isle period (1947-1958) mark the beginning of a true abstract approach for Vasarely. A key idea appears: that which allows the transformation of a natural raw material into an abstract material. It also marks a return to nature through the use of geometric forms, in particular the ovoid form which signifies “the oceanic feeling”.
