In 2021, the Vasarely Foundation celebrates fifty years of its recognition of public utility, on September 27, 1971, by symbolically bringing together in a double exhibition the very places of its creation, the Château de Gordes and the Architectonic Center of Aix-en -Provence. This fiftieth anniversary exhibition retraces, from the written wording of 1966, “My Foundation Project”, Victor Vasarely’s first reflections on his grand design, as well as the stages in the realization of a cultural project that was unique at the time. The exhibition will recall, through a rich set of archival documents, original works, texts and photographs, the circumstances of the creation of the Gordes didactic museum inaugurated on June 5, 1970, which formed the first part of the Vasarely Foundation.
