A word from the President

Dear friends,
The urgency of the situation requires me to write these few lines to you.

Since October 30, 2020, and respecting government decisions, the Vasarely Foundation has once again had to close to the public like all other French cultural establishments. This renewed situation constitutes a peril for the future of our Institution even if everything is done to ensure its continuity and sustainability.

The Foundation has systematically taken all the necessary measures to reduce its costs and find, at best, new resources while pursuing its ambitious scientific and cultural activity.

The Government has raised the possibility of financing the fixed costs of companies forced to close. This system would be essential to safeguard our Institution but, to date, it only appears to be in place for companies with at least 1 million euros in monthly turnover, which is not the case of the Vasarely Foundation.

Since 2009, we have never stopped fighting to achieve recognition for our Foundation by being part of the Museums in the Regions Plan in 2011, by becoming a Historic Monument in 2013, and then Musée de France in 2020.

All these efforts risk being dashed if the State, first and foremost, accompanied by local authorities, cannot support us exceptionally, to overcome this health and economic crisis as long as we do not have the opportunity to reopen our doors.

Dear friends, help us to overcome this bad course, make a donation to our Foundation recognized for public utility and non-profit! These donations will allow you a very favorable tax deduction.

Pierre Vasarely
